What if the battery leaks?

Whether ordinary zinc-manganese batteries or alkaline batteries, after a long period of use, liquid leakage will occur. So, how to deal with the leakage of batteries?

Introduction of the battery

Batteries contain an electrolyte solution with positive and negative electrodes, with which chemical energy can be converted into electrical energy. In addition to batteries in the traditional sense, batteries now also refer to devices that generate electrical energy, such as solar cells. Using batteries, a steady current can be obtained, so batteries play an important role in modern life.

Numerous factors, including overusing the battery, operating it below the recommended voltage, and operating it at an excessively high temperature while drawing too much current, can result in battery leakage. A hazardous and extremely corrosive liquid that spills from the battery has the potential to corrode its internal components, resulting in poor or nonexistent battery contact. Additionally to the possibility of corrosion, it will cause the battery’s belly to bloat.

Never let a battery leak touch your skin or clothing, throw the battery away right away, and then wipe the area with alcohol.

Batteries typically leak either as a result of leaking or inadequate sealing, which results in cracking. Check the device’s housing to determine what caused it to be damaged, and look for electrolyte leaks around the safety valve. Then pressurize and fill the water to check for air bubbles to determine if the seal is airtight. Last but not least, make sure the electrolyte is flowing when charging. You should take care of and clean up the area if you discover where the electrolyte is pouring.

How to prevent battery leakage?

To prevent battery leakage, we must use a high-quality battery, replace it once a year, insulate the battery box’s direct contact surface with the battery gate, avoid overusing the battery, and never remove the battery using an appliance.
